Does the management IP address of a Cisco UCS B Series blade change when you disassociate a service profile from it?

I was recently asked whether the management IP address of a Cisco UCS B Series blade change when you disassociate a service profile from it and as much as I have been working with these B Series infrastructure, I didn’t know the answer off the top of my head.  What I ended up doing was to perform a quick review from within UCS Manager and what’s nice about the new 1.4 firmware is that you get a nice detailed description about the management IP address in the Management IP Address section under the General tab of the service profile:

You can specify if the server will have a static management IP address, or if it will be derived from the management IP pool. Selecting these options, the management IP address will follow the service profile if it migrates between servers.

If you specify none, the management IP address will be determined by the server’s CIMC settings.

So the answer to the question is if you’re simply disassociating and re-associating the same service profile to a blade, the management IP will be retained (since it follows the service profile) assuming you select the static or pooled option for the Management IP Address Policy.
